LOTS OF SMILES AT KOCI’S KID’S 2015 CHRISTMAS EVENT

Community radio station, 101.5FM, KOCI held its 3rd annual KOCI Kid’s Christmas at the Costa Mesa Country Club on Sunday the 13th.  The KOCI staff hosted over 250 kids and parents from our community that could use a little something special this holiday season.  In coordination with the Newport Mesa Unified School District, KOCI hosted the families to holiday music, lunch as provided by area restaurants, Christmas toys that were donated by local businesses and of course, jolly Santa Claus.

“I can assure you, this will never get old” said event coordinator and KOCI volunteer, Troy Davis.  “We had an exceptional turnout this year and our restaurant partners and toy donors really stepped up to help our non-profit radio station make this a memorable Christmas for so many in-need families.”

As the school busses pulled up outside, children could begin hearing the cheerful holiday music coming from the banquet room provided by the Costa Mesa Country Club.  The room was completely decorated and the piles of toys under the Christmas tree couldn’t be overlooked.  While the guests were dining, Santa made his grand entrance to the delight of the kids.  Coach Mike Bargas brought a host of his football players from Estancia High School to act as volunteer helpers and elves.  The wide-eyed children lined up to take turns picking out their toys and take pictures on Santa’s lap.

“This has become one of the signature events that KOCI hosts each year and there really isn’t anything better than helping others” said Davis.  “While we do many good things for good people throughout the year, this one always tops the list for me.”

Life Changes for Kids

Thanks to your help KOCI was able to present a Life Changes for Kids 4 hour live radio broadcast during which $28,000 was raised for five year old child Julian with brain cancer.

All of the proceeds went directly to Julian’s medical bills as his parent’s medical insurance did not cover all expenses.  KOCI, as a non-profit organization, can only continue to accomplish more of the same with your donations.  When you as a listener, donate to KOCI, you make it possible for this non-profit radio station to continue to accomplish more for the community in which we live.
